About Sweet Stems – Bay of Plenty Wedding & Event Florist Emma Bell

Sweet Stems actually began because of my role as a mother. I wanted the flexibility to attend school activities and to be there to greet our kids every day after school. Starting this business gave me the chance to do that, while also fulfilling my creative passion and making a meaningful impact. What started as a desire for more balance in my life grew into something much bigger – a way to combine family and flowers in a way that feels both personal and fulfilling

My Vision For Sweet Stems Flower Farm

At Sweet Stems, my vision is pretty simple — to grow beautiful flowers with a whole lot of heart and a little less impact on the planet. From digging in the dirt and planting tiny seedlings, to the satisfying rhythm of weeding and the joy of picking blooms at their peak — it's all part of the magic. I believe in keeping things local, seasonal, and reducing our carbon footprint wherever I can. Every bouquet I make tells the story of where it came from — the soil, the hands that nurtured it, and the love that shaped it into something special.

My Vision For Wedding Clients

I aim to create a space where floral designs feel personal, thoughtful, and full of intention. I take the time to understand each couple’s style and story, so their flowers reflect who they are. Every arrangement is designed with heart and purpose, bringing meaning to every detail.

Life Outside The Flowers

When I’m not flowering, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband, our kids, and our close circle of family and friends. I’m naturally curious and love hearing people’s stories — it’s probably why I enjoy connecting with couples so much.
I have a soft spot for vintage furniture and appreciate clothing and fashion — but I don’t believe material things define your worth. I’m definitely not afraid to rock bush pants and socks with slides to the petrol station. Ha!
Believe it or not, I don’t have a favourite flower — I think they’re all beautiful in their own way.
To keep things balanced, I love a good Les Mills pump class, walking the local Latham’s Bush Track in Awakeri, or getting out in nature beyond the garden. And just for fun, I’ve recently taken up surfing — still learning, but loving the challenge.
