Larrissa + Mike | A Tauranga Wedding
There’s something pretty special about a wedding at a hired private residence that feels like home.
Larrissa and Mike were married at a private residence in Tauranga, with the water as their backdrop and a really beautiful, relaxed setting to work with.
For the flowers, we kept things fresh and mostly white, with lots of different shapes and textures rather than relying on colour to do all the work.
And this ceremony piece was definitely one of my favourites.
ALL WHITE, BUT FAR FROM BORING
When you're working with a mostly white palette, texture becomes everything.
Dahlias, roses, hydrangea and softer little details were mixed with trailing amaranthus and touches of green to give the flowers movement and keep everything feeling relaxed rather than too perfect.
The ceremony flowers were designed on a large white planters so the flowers could really do their thing, and with that view behind them, they didn't need much else.
This is always the balance I'm looking for with wedding flowers.
Flowers that make an impact, photograph beautifully, but still feel like they belong exactly where they are.
DESIGNED FOR THE WHOLE DAY
One thing I always think about when designing wedding flowers is how everything is going to look together.
The bouquet, ceremony flowers, tables and little floral details don't need to perfectly match, but they should feel like they belong at the same wedding.
It's those little changes in height, shape and texture that make everything interesting while still keeping the overall look really cohesive.
And when you're investing in beautiful flowers, I want them to look just as good in your photos as they do standing in front of you on the day.
